Dan yang mengejutkan adalah semburan pasir dan lahar di Perairan Haloban. Semburan itu mengangkat batu berwarna kuning dari perut bumi. Warga percaya bahwa bongkahan batu berwarna kuning itu mengandung emas.


Camat Pulo Banyak, Safnil mengatakan, puluhan nelayan kepulauan Haloban, menyelam dibawah permukaan laut sedalam lima meter mendekati semburan pasir untuk mencari emas, sejak sepekan terakhir.


“Saya beberapa hari lalu sudah ke lokasi untuk melihat langsung, warga menyelam ke dasar laut dengan peralatan seadanya,” kata Safnil, saat dihubungi VIVAnews, Selasa 20 April 2010.


Menurut Safnil pihaknya telah memperingatkan warga untuk menjauh dari semburan pasir dan lumpur tersebut, karena khawatir terhadap keselamatan warga. Namun kata dia, warga masih terus berusaha mencari bongkahan batu emas didekat semburan pasir tersebut.


Safnil juga mengatakan, pihaknya masih menunggu kedatangan tim peneliti dari Dinas Pertambangan dan Energi Aceh, dan Badan Pengkajian dan Penerapan Teknologi (BPPT) Pusat, untuk meneliti semburan Lumpur bercampur pasir tersebut.


“Kepastiannya besok mereka sampai ke Pulau Banyak, mereka sedang dalam perjalanan sekarang,” katanya.


Pasca gempa bumi berkekuatan 7,2 skala Richter yang berpusat di laut Simeulue, warga Kepulaun Banyak, Kabupaten Aceh Singkil dikejutkan dengan ditemukannya semburan lumpur bercampur pasir di kawasan Laut Haloban, pekan lalu.


Titik lokasi semburuan berada lima meter dibawah permukaan laut.


Munculnya semburan lumpur tersebut juga sempat membuat panik warga kepulauan Haloban. Pasalnya, beredar kabar akan muncul pulau baru yang akan menengelamkan pulau kecil lainnya.


Kini lokasi semburan telah diberi nama oleh warga sekitar sebagai ‘Gosong Wulawan’ atau dalam bahasa warga Haloban disebut 'Karang Emas'. (wm)
